One of those days

Yesterday was one of those days..... while I was at lunch I noticed something hanging down below my Tacoma... I did not need it to shred a tire which it was close to doing.

I broke a spring. I went straight to the local spring shop (sure is nice to have a good one local) and I was told "about an hour" well........

I did not have a broken spring ..... I had broken the main and another leaf. Upon inspection the other side was loose and had broken leaves too :(

I told my friend to go ahaed and replace them both and while he was at it add an additional leaf to each side. I wanted the piece of mind for when I tow the boat and my ATV's.

Did I mention the shackles were frozen too......

Well the little Tacoma is standing proud and higher too.... or maybe I just sit $900 lower in the driver's seat.

The "about an hour" turned into 2 1/2. I was ugly about it last night but it needed to be done right.

Oh yeah last week the wife's Impala needed a thermostat on the 3.4 liter engine. Did you know that the GM labor rate is 3 hours for a thermostat!!! YIKES !!! I had a friend do it for less $$$

I sure will be happy when the daylight is longer so I can do more of my own work. The "winter season" plans are to rebuild my I-6 tower on my mariner outboard. I can at least do that indoors.

Well it's Friday night and I just might take out my frustrations tomorrow with my muzzleloader on a deer.

Re: One of those days

No the thermostat was sticking open and not letting the engine reach full temp which was causing a check engine light. Running that cold tend to contaminate oil quickly. No leaks and really not much heat either... my wife "did not notice" and I was glad I drove her car one day.

As for the Tacoma..... I do tow my boat and my ATV trailer. The roads here in VT are among the worst for driving. Since I drag the ATV's up to camp the roads are rugged.

Re: One of those days

just asked about the leak because the 3.4's gm's are very prone to intake gaskets leaking antifreeze, and it will look like it's comming from the thermostat housing.....
keep an eye out for it ..............
