I have a small spot of damage on a sailboat I am getting ready to paint that goes all the way through the boat. I cannot access the inside to back up the repair. Should I stop drill the ends of the split, feather the damage out, glass it, fair it and prime it, or do I need to do something else? This is also on an inside curve so I know it is going to be difficult no matter what I have to do.

Re: One side fiberglass repair

You are going to have to fashion some sort of interior repair if possible......

You should take a tip from drywall repair http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/how-to-fix-holes-in-drywall-1.jpg and get something behind the hole to bite on.

no real need to drill out the crack ends since most of the cloth is woven and not seamed.......... it should not be difficult to do with fiberglass then do a gel coat repair on top to blend it in.
