I was on ebay looking for a trailer to haul my DJ gear in and instead ended up buying a boat for $700. Of course it wouldn't start when I took it home. A couple of posts in the Mercury forum (coupled with the good luck that I have been blessed with), a little bit of troubleshooting, and a replacement "switchbox" and I'll be damned if it didn't fire right up.
Well, that was a year ago, and the boat has been taken out almost every weekend since (usually on both Sat and Sun). I think I have put ten trillion hours on that '72 Merc 650 in the last year. It always starts within five seconds and has never crapped out on us. I read the Merc forum every other day and always follow Clams and Laddies advice. I am absolutely positive that I would not be boating if it were not for their help.
I always wondered if I would use a boat if I bought one and the answer is clearly YES.
