Anyone know of an online source for overheat, low oil audibles? My sys check tach light won't catch my attention I want to make sure I have warning if something goes wrong. Thanks

Your System Check should be equipped with an audible warning, if properly rigged. You should hear the warning horn and the lights, in your gauge, should cycle through when you first turn the key to the on position.

Daddysmurf is correct. You should have a loud warning signal for 1/2 second as soon as you turn your key on, with a SystemCheck guage. If not, get it check out right away.

The system does not use a "horn". The electronics inside the SystemCheck guage power the warning module. You cannot check it by putting 12V to it like with the old "buzzers" of previous years and do NOT hook up any other type of component to it!

Re: Online source for warning buzzer?

I bought a '96 faststrike on ebay without a harness, turns out its a '95, unfortunatly I was so excited I bought a harness and sys check tach for a '96 before I actually got the motor. I got the tach and harness on ebay for $30 so no big deal but I did still want to use the tach so I cut the lead from the harness to the tach to retain the 8 pin connector and about a foot of wires to splice into, tach works fine. Vro is disconnected, and I think there is only the two water temp sensors to hook into, I spliced all off the sensor wires coming out of the tach into the one water temp lead from the motor so that all the lights on the gauge would light up if there was a problem. Is there actually supposed to be an audible inside the tach? Dont these audibles just ground out via the sensor to operate?

The audible alarm is powered by the System Check tach or gauge. It has to use the proper warning system. It is not a "horn" that is grounded, like in the '95 and earlier systems. It is more like a hi-fi speaker that needs an "amplifier" to make it sound off.

A better way than "jury rigging" the alarm sensors, would have been to get the SystemCheck adapter kit from Johnson/Evinrude and you would get the use of all the alarms and the kit is complete.

Since you are not using the oil metering system, you still have 2 temp senders and a vacuum fuel-restriction sensor that should be wired up correctly to protect the engine.

How about a model number on the motor first?
