I have a 1985 Evinrude 115 hp, I have fire at all plugs but in the water I top out at 2200 rpms. When I check the plugs, the one on the top/right plug is smoked up and oily, like it's not firing. But out of the water all 4 plugs are firing. Please help. Thank you!

Hook a timing light up to each wire while underway (need a helper, or set the light to be seen from up front). If no flash, no spark.

I would pull the cylinder head to look at pistons on the right bank.-------Head gasket is cheaper than a lot of other guessing.---Orange / blue stripe wire going to the top coil ?

I have pulled both sides and checked and they look really good and since reassembled but I am not sure which coil the orange/blue wire is going to, will look as soon as I get home, thank you!

I pulled the complete heads off but I think it may have been the wires switched on the coils, heading down to launch it and see, thank you all for the help, regardless the outcome

You might still run some Merc Engine Kleener (I think they call it) or Yamaha Ring Free? That style engine loves to coke the starboard piston rings. Might even up your compression numbers. Glad you got it figured out.

Congrats! Love a mystery with a happy ending!

Me too, we ran it all afternoon and it done great. Through this whole process, I had 1 dead coil, 2 that I replaced that was damaged and 1 powerpack that was only live on 1 cylinder, I guess with all the flip flopping and changes, I swapped the 2 wires on the right bank. But shes running great now. Thanks again y'all!
