work begun on this early in season as I prepared for the 2013 boating season, Oh which I might add I never made it to the water. what started as some simple repairs and preventive issue's turned into the entire floor system being removed down to a shell and restored from the ground up. Why you are probably asking. Well simple. Just take a glimse at the new boat price's. plus there is some personal attachment to the boat and era of boating from growing up.

All that to say this HELP.... I have removed my floor and cant get up. No seriously I have some question's on establishing stringer height a little easier then the method I am using if there is an easier way. I like many other's left a 2 inch or so rim around the per. of boat floor, and removed everything there under. I have yet to grind anything significantly but have started the fabrication of the stringer and bulk head system, and needless to say I have some question's. And yes I have taken a look at the frisco jarret page, and can say he is an internet hero to me, the patience he not only has for the work he's performing but to further that patience and focus on it with a camera. Hat's off frisco.

so i will be attempting to post some progress photo's

Until then anyone with any knowledge on establishing the proper height of stringer's based on the lip that I have left around permiter I will gladly hear what you have to add.

You touched on it right there . . . a fair number of threads on here that show how folks make/use a straight edge across the hull using the deck lip as their datum. then it is a matter of taking depth measurement from the datum to the hull to establish the stringer profile, accounting for the deck thickness, etc.

If the stringer can be salvaged to some extent, it too could be used as a pattern for making new ones.

Lots of methods. Cardboard strips taped together to make a pattern, Cardboard planks and Pencil Compass to draw hull outline on the cardboard then cutout the stencil, string line and drop a series of plumb lines to the bottom of the hull measuring @ 6" intervals. They'll all work. It's up to you to decide which one you think will work best for you.;)
