operating temp on a 4.3 mercruiser

I have a 2001 mercruiser with a alpha drive. It operates at 170 temp and never goes above that. Is that an acceptable operating temp for this engine?

most 4.3 have a 160 thermostat so the ansewer is yes

it depends on of the motor is fresh (HEAT EXCHANGER)or raw water cooled<br /><br />raw uses a 140<br /><br />fresh uses a 160<br /><br />tommays
