Opinion? Chris Craft Scorpion K 210

I am looking at buying this Chris Craft Scopion K 210. This is a 1981. It has a 1989 Johnson 175 HP motor that has a flywheel/stator problem but good compression (110 psi on all 6).

I have always admired this style of a boat and the lines of this boat really appeal to me.

I know that Gary H NC has one of these.

Does anyone else have an opinion?

I'm a little concerned about the transom. I think Gary may have had issues with his. This particular boat used to have twin 100hp motors. Since it now only has one there are some holes that are being used. I haven't looked at the boat in person, however, I have been assured that the holes were professional sealed so the transom is still good and solid.

If it is running, what is it worth? Probably no more than $3000 or so. I would look really close before I bought it.

I love the look though. I might do $1200. If its solid and only needs some minor repair.

I went and looked at the boat today. 3 hr drive one way. Lots of time to think. Pretty much decided I didn't want it before I even go there.

I didn't buy it. Transom is delaminating. The rest of the boat wasn't that great either. Not a diamond in the rough.

Probably a good idea...thos are really nice boats. If you are into those lines the Wellcraft V-20 is nearly the identical hull. Not nearly as hard to find as the scorpion but they are really almost identical.

Yup. I like the Wellcraft V-20 also.

I have been keeping my eye open for a boat of this style for a while.

I also really like the Tiara/Pursuit 2000 model from the early to mid 1980s....this is also a 20' small cuddy. The Pursuit was available with I/O and outboard power. I prefer outboard, but I haven't seen many for sale in my area.

Didnt know Pursuit made a 20'er . I'll have to look that up, betcha its cool though. Good luck on whatever you go with.
