For starters I'm only 32, but I tend to like a lot of the throw back music from the 40's & 50's. One album I absolutely love is the 1959 "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" album by Marty Robbins. Every song on this album is great. Anyone else ever listen to it? Anyone else a Marty Robbins fan?

IMHO, if you want to hear real country and western music, you have to go back to the 40"s and 50"s. Hank Snow, Webb Pierce, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, etc. Todays so called C&W singers sound just like everyone else to me.

the only time I saw my Grandfather cry was the day Marty Robbins died. I guess you would call me a fan as well.

Yeah my mom took it hard too when he died. She is the one who really tortured me growing up with her record collection. She always had it playing when cleaning etc. Mostly it was Marty Robbins and Statler Brothers, and such. I guess I consider it kind of nostalgic to my childhood when I listen to the songs now. She still has all those records and plays them constantly. LOL

Small point, but your use of the term "throwback" is inaccurate.
The music that you are talking about is actually "original".
"Throwback" would apply to anyone copying that sound and style today.

I still have a copy of Gunfighter Ballads on vinyl, and I completely agree with your assessment of that.
