Re: opinion of depth finder

is that all you want, a depthfinder? it looks ok, should be easy to find a spot for it. that transducer will mount on the transom or in the hull, nice bonus there. do you know why it is a B stock item, if it had repairs done or anything like that?

I never heard of the brand. I know a brand new Hummingbird can be had for under $100. My opinion is pay a little more for a quality unit from a known company. If you have problems with this one, you might have problems returning it.

As for the function, my boat has a factory installed Faria, and it is a must have when in unknown areas. Helps keep you updated on the shallow areas.

I thought those in-dash ones were fairly expensive. Seem like it could be worth the gamble to me.

I hadn't seen one before. (which is why I'm asking about it)

I like the fact I could install it and not have to worry about someone stealing it like a dash mounted fish finder that I'd have to take on and off all the time.

It said on the e-bay post remanufactured. So there was something wrong with it.

I looked at those and the Humminbird similar to it...610 I think. I bought the Humminbird. It was less than 100 bucks and works great.

Agreed. I stopped reading the ad when I got to that part. Id' buy a remanufactured bucket, but not electronics unless it was 90% off retail.

Agreed also, I was mostly referring to the type of depth finder than that one specifically. my bad.

When it comes to electronics I alway buy new.

I like this....http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/Digital-Gauges/LST-3800/

These might be old news to many, but I just discovered them. Cool little inconspicuous gadget for around a $100.

That one looks nice. I have a depth-only gauge that came stock on my big SeaRay. It works very well and never seems to lose the bottom. It's nice to have it there if all you want is depth. I also have a Lowrance 527 do-it-all on there as well and I find myself looking at the depth-only more often than the graph.

Thanks, I too can see it being very useful.

There is an option of transom mount or through hull mount....opinion on this?
