I am looking to get a good manual for my 67 Johnson 40hp motor. What are your opinions on the SELOC Marine maintenance and repair manuals?

I am a pretty good wrench and don't care for the new chilton or haynes style automotive manuals since they since they aren't indepth enough. So I am looking for a marine manual with more information than the chiltons/haynes provide for auto work.

Thanks

Re: Opinions on manuals

I have both the Johnson Service Manual (JSM) and the Seloc manual and frequently compare them when I don't understand something or need a little more information. Both are good and informative and Seloc has added pictures although they may not be of your model. JSM is very specific to your model but my opinion of Seloc is that they read the JSM manual and then created the Seloc manual. Some of it so identical I'm suprised they don't get sued.

Both are good but having the official manual for your exact motor is really what you want. You might find either on eBay.

Re: Opinions on manuals

go to the kencook site listed find the manual for your motor. buy there, or get number and search ebay. there is not substitute for the real thing.
