Need to replace my voltage regulator . Sierra offers part # 18-5740 voltage regulator to fit my application. My question... go with Sierra and save a bunch of money or go with oem. Anyone have experience with this part and was it a reliable replacement?

I have replaced plenty of oem parts using siearra. good company owned by oem parts mfg. Some parts are different, some are exact except for brand name. voltage regulators have been around for a long time and are simple. I say go for it and save your money for the parts not available aftermarket next time.

There is no reason to not buy Sierra, they have been around quite a while and make good parts.

Maybe not a regulator but...had a 25 HP Johnson in a while ago with a No Start.

Diagnosed a defective Power Pack...got one from another manufacturer (aftermarket).

It was dead right out of the box (I know, it happens).

Took it back and got a Sierra...motor fired up on the first start.

Stick with OEM..With new tariffs implemented by our wonderful :blue: government in some cases OEM are cheaper than aftermarket. Just my opinion based on 30 years working cars and boats.
