Anyone have opinions about performance & reliability of a near-mint 1967 100 HP Johnson golden Meteor with electramatic shift, pulse ignition. Plan to go thru it thoroughly for recondition/ cleaning. On a light (500 lb) 16 ft classic mahogany molded ply runabout with beefy transom.
Plan to use it in Southwest at 7,000 ft elevation & hope to ski two, will be using 5 hp 4 cycle kicker as backup. Thanks a bunch for any info re this engine.

get it in good shape, will have to change jets for altitude. should be a great engine. it's short comings will be parts availablity of the lower unit shifting. should be a great match for the vintage boat

Good tough motors. Keep the lower unit leak-free and use the proper oil (BRP Premium Blend) and you shouldn't be needing any parts. It was built for I/Os with a lot more horsepower. Parts for that 4 barrel carb might be hard to come by. Carb gaskets are rather complicated and would be a bear to make yourself.

I think you are talking about a 275 pound motor.And it's going on a 500 pound boat ? And a 4 stroke kicker too ?
