Opinions wanted on 60 HP Mercury

I am looking at a used 18 foot pontoon boat with a 2000 Mecury 60 hp 2 stroke Bigfoot engine on it. The boat has been sitting outside in southern Georgia for 1 1/2 years. I want to use the boat for fishing & light crusing. My question is: Is this a decent, reliable engine? I would prefer a 4 stroke but I really don't know anything about boats or engines. I plan to have a certified mechanic check out the engine before I make an offer. I welcome any & all opinions. Thank you.
