Opinon- Merc O.B. ?

I just bought an older boat, motor and trailer. The motor is a 1983 Mercury 25 hp. It has the center console controls and the stabilizer mounted on the motor above the prop. It seems to run fine. <br /> This is my 1st merc.. What type of reputation does this motor have? Value? Anything special to be aware of? Thanks!!! Skip

Merc's are good motors, but how well it's been<br />maintained over it's life is more important.<br />get a service manual, do the proper maintainence<br />and it should last a long time for you.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
