Optimal pump/impeller and electric motor

Hi, in a previous thread, I expressed my interest for developing an electric PWC. I have the idea to install an electric motor of 35 kW. What is the most optimal rpm and torque motor, to be implemented within the pump/impeller?

Re: Optimal pump/impeller and electric motor

Sure wouldn't mind seeing an electric PWC but with battery technology the way it is today if it does work it will sure cost. Litihum Ion battery's are expensive and AGM's are heavy. My 12V caterpillar dozer uses a 4KW starter (weigh's 80lbs or 36kg) and calcualtion reference using P=E x I would come to 333 Amps:

35000 watts / 12 volts = 2916 Amps
35000 / 24 = 1458
35000 / 48 = 729
35000 / 96 = 364

If the voltage goes high enough you can get the current down but then what about shock. How many batteries would this take and how far could you go before needing to recharge?

Re: Optimal pump/impeller and electric motor

Hi, I have an electric motor of 45 kW, 6000 rpm and Torque Max 210 N?m (nominal 120 N?m). PWC could weight 300 kg more or less. Do you think it is ok to use a jet pump? Which kind of impeller do you recommend me?

Thanks again!

I'm not an expert in this area just know somethings about power and the amount of capacity it will take to move an object. Right now I do not think you will be able to achieve your end goa,l because the PWC will weight to much do to the batteries needed to power the size motor you wish to use. You need a lighter power source then batteries that to world currently makes. I think you will have a 2500-3000 kg PWC which will power it for no more then 30 minutes at about 50 kph. I don't think it will work

I will see. In principle it is a prototype. I will keep you informed about the project, and I am sure it will work.
