I have a customer making life difficult ,insistiting there is a class action suit pendinig against Merc regarding the optimax line.Any info out there as I 've heard nothing.By the way ,this guy is a jerk.
Every dealership seems to have one to deal with. And there's always some lawyer with his hand out willing to listen for a fee. Even to Jerks. I haven't heard of any pending class actions against Mercury about Optimax.<br /><br />Addendum: I did a Yahoo search using keywords Mercury OptiMax Class Action. It appears there is such a lawsuit pending regarding 2.5 and 3 liter Optis. I think Merc is rushing full steam to replace the line with the new supercharged 4-strokes...and four strokes in general. I doubt they will be producing any 2-strokes 5 years from now. They were having so much trouble with the direct injectors that the company that made them decided to call it a day. In order to keep producing the motors I heard Merc had to buy the company and the patents. Rumors or truth? I dunno.
It is true that there is a class lawsuit. All 2000-2002 Optimax engines that are registered to us citizens. They are not giving up on the Optimax engines either, there mercurys best selling engine line. If everything goes ok in curt there going to give cretin people in the class rebates on new optimaxes. All Mercury dealers had a letter sent to them a while back.
