I have two 2000 225hp opti's that now have about 700 hrs. They always run great except for their idle and cold start. When they were new they required several attemps to start when cold. This has progressively got worse where now it is impossible to cold start them without advancing the throttle. They fire then die. After they are fully warm they still idle erratically, hitting hard every now and then and rpm fluctuates. They die often at idle especially when shifting. This has been the case since they were new and is worse now and often they require advanced throttle to start even when they are warm . I have checked for fuel and air leaks, checked all three pumps for correct pressure, fuel rail pressure runs 77-80 and air pressure runs 87-90, and my DDT finds no faults. My TPI volts are 4.44 (P) 4.55 (S) idle and .72 (P) and .66 (S) at WOT. I have tried different TPI setting within the rec. range, no help. I have found no fuel in the air rails. The only thing off spec is one cylinder on each engine is low compression, about 65-70 and all other cylinder check at about 90-100. The 90-100 figure was about what it was when they were new. I have not looked at my reeds. I wondered if the low cylinder would cause this but they have been low a long time. I have done the hose pinch off tests to see if fuel and air regulation if working, it appears ok. Cleaned direct injectors and ohm and short checked, all about 1.2-1.3 with case resitance about .3 meg ohm to 3 meg ohm range. While the motors were in warranty the dealer tryed to diagonose but Optimax's were not so well understood back then. The funny thing is BOTH motors do this so I don't have a "good" reference to check against. I use Optimax oil and recently did a chemical decarb job. I just seems to me the they are too lean running at idle. Any sugestions???
