I'm buying a used boat with a 2001 Mercury Optimax 200 Hp XL shaft serial # OT 271718 , I checked with local dealer to try and find out if there were any recalls or bulletins that model but they were no help. I know some years and model of Optimax had alot of problem . Any help would be greatful. Thanks

The Optimax fuel injectors were problematic. Ask to take the boat on a sea trial, have a computer hooked to the engine for a cylinder misfire test. You can also check the engine hours, fault history etc. with said computer. A compression test is also a good idea.
