Ordered new crank seals for a 1969 9.5 HP from a site highly recommended here on I-Boats. this is what they sent. To me they look used? they were packed in the tan envelope with the part# as shown. My question when ordering parts for these older motors is it normal practice to receive used parts? I understand NOS is old but has never been used. I ran a small piece of paper towel around the inside of seals and it came out black looking. would you folks in the know proceed with build or look for a better set?

I would only use new seals. They did however do a good job removing the seals without damaging them :/

I think what you have hear is, some one pulled the wrong parts when they were doing a rebuild. And they had already applied seal grease, and just put them back in the envelope.

All good points, I have not done many re-builds on these older motors, So I really don't know if this is what new seals should look like from back in the day? What has me a bit concerned is I can read the numbers on the old seals still in the bearings in the top of the pics, but cannot read all the numbers on the "new" set as the numbers seem to be worn away. Bought these from Seaway Marine. I have ordered from them many times and they have always been great. Just kinda torn as to using these because if you have ever disassembled & put back together a 9.5 then you know what I mean. well darn'''
