I have never used epoxy and I am worried about the blushing that might happen. Can anyone explain this process and how to overcome it? I am repairing a transom and installing two bench seats with other minor scrapes and such.

There is no simple answer.

Google epoxy blushing and be prepared to do some reading.

Ayuh,...

Short story is,...

Prep the work area,+ start laying up your work,...
If the task can't be completed in 12/ 24hrs,... Or Less...
It'll blush,+ you'll need to Sand again...

Anytime work is left for a time,...
Sanding will be necessary before you restart the lay-up...

Depending on how quickly the cure rate was, and how humid it was, the blush was non-existant to bad (my hardtop project). The good news is that it just washes off with a soft scrub brush and water w/dish detergent. Follow the manufacturers instructions. Often if you are re-coating within a few hours, no sanding is needed to get a chemical bond.

I used a bucket with soapy water, scrubbed the area clean, and washed clean with the garden hose. I had read various accounts about how hard it was to remove, but I found it did not apply to my project. I used epoxy from fiberglasssite.com.

But again, the most important thing is to follow the manufacturers instructions/directions.
