So I have purchased a out-drive about 2 or 3 months ago and realized that there is a little nick or hole on the bottom keel of the out-drive. Maybe it damage or maybe it should be there. Point being is that i am not sure and don't want to be putting on a out drive with a hole in it!! Thanks for any advice. Video coming soon on it in the series on my boat restoration documentary.:facepalm:S1160019.jpgS1160021.jpgS1160017.jpg

Hi Big Dog, that hole looks normal as it appears to be your speedometer pick up hole.

Leading edge of the lower unit? It is the speedometer 'pitot' hole. There should be a fitting above on the ventilation plate that connects to a rubber tube from the gimbal assembly.
