I have a 2004 Fourwins GL-B 4.3L w/ SX prop well a friend has it. She bought it last year and I've only helped friends out with their boats so there's a chance I'm missing something obvious. The drain on the out drive that's a flat head screw, it will not budge. I've got a plenty big enough screwdriver but nothing. Is there some fancy trick or a specialty tool to remove the screw. Also do I need a pump to put the new fluid in once drained? Thx and yes I do feel dumb.

You could try a couple of things depending on what you feel is necessary and are comfortable with . . .

1) a little heat and cold to expand/contract the metal

2) using the widest flat blade screw driver you can get your hands on, and a crescent wrench . . . push the screw driver hard into the slot of the drain plug and use the crescent wrench to turn the blade of the screw driver.

Is the drain plug up top on the outdrive ? Or down at the lower unit?

Be ready for a rush of oil . . . which would be good.

I use a handheld impact drive, came with some bits, the biggest one totally fits that slot. I use this even if the plug would come out easy just to avoid hogging out the slot with a big screwdriver.

I did too when I had a SX drive. Harbor freight special

and should all of these attempts fail remove the drive , remove the top plug and catch any oil.
Use some HIGH heat on the plug then a blast of Freon
should that fail have a SS bolt welded to the drain plug, that always works
You pump oil in from the bottom until it comes out the top.

Hammer actuated impact driver or a 3/8 drag link socket. The drag link socket fits best but not a common find in most toolboxes.
