out-drive makes grinding noises

I would realy appreciate if someone would help me diognose my 1983 120 omc.It makes strange grinding noises and i think i can see the seal on lower ball gear hanging out.There was also prety creamy oil in upper gear case.I am willing to pay for help so please reply asap.

On top of the drive you can take out a dip stick. Do this and look for filings. <br /><br />Also...what kind of shape are the ball gears in?<br /><br />TMD
