I removed the engine to put a new one in before doing it i put it in foward gear but when I put the out drive back in it seem to be in neutral gear i guess when i moved the shif bracket it slipped into neutral the out drive will not go in i was wonder spec wise i had a 86 4.3 merc engine replaced by a 88 4.3 merc on the whole for the shaft the same my fear is the 88 has a smaller hole for the outdrive shaft and casue it not to go in what am i doing wrong and any tips on the foward gear this if it pop out into neutral and i put the engine back and put it in foward is that bad or good.
