So I'm at a loss. I have a 1996 mercury 75 outboard. During my first time out this year I noticed while at idle in forward gear the motor was bucking and sputtering. So I decided to pull the carbs and clean them. Get it all back together and now its worse than before. The part I am most confused about is that when I adjust the carbs on the water, I can get it running pretty smoothly at idle. But then when I go WOT for a while and slow back down to idle its back to bucking like crazy. When it gets above 1200 rpms it smooths out again. I've tried adjusting the carbs 3 times and every time I go WOT then back to idle it goes back to running rough again. Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on. I just can't figure this out.
