Hmm...I don't think there was a 4-stroke Johnson engine in 1970. I can't even find a 55 hp engine in 1970 from Johnson.<br /><br />But, getting someone to work on older outboards can be tough. That's why most of us with older engines work on them ourselves. With a proper factory service manual, it's not so hard, really.<br /><br />But, there's probably an independent repair person in NJ somewhere who will work on your engine, whatever it is. Try asking the OMC shops you're calling if they know of an independent mechanic.
