The transom bolt holes are a little beat up so i want to make a stainless plate for my outboard.I found measurements on line 12 7/8 across top holes and 9 7/8'' across bottom holes with a vertical seperation of 8". all measurements are on bolt centers.I made a paper template, measured 500 times but the vertical seperation of 8" seems to be about a 1/2 inch short. Can anyone confirm these measurements. 200 hp johnson going to 150 johnson thanks

That is the dimensions given on the template I have. I suppose it is possible that the motors have changed since mine was printed though. Are you saying that doesn't match the TRANSOM or the MOTOR holes? Transoms are often drilled with different locations in order to clear structural obstructons.

If you haven't installed the 150 clamp a piece of something to the transom bracket and make a template. Transfer to your stainless plate. Use 3M 5200 or 4200 when mounting the plate and new bolts for watertight seal. This may require having a different hole pattern from motor to motor. You did not state what year motors your dealing with so it is hard to tell bolt patterns.

200 to 150 should have the same pattern BUT this depends if the hole pattern was orginally or not set up by the factory template. And don't use 5200 for a sealer unless you want to lose some gelcoat off of your boat incase you ever want to pull the mtr.
