The transom on my boar is 3 inches thick. Are there 10 or 15 h p motors that can mount to a 3 inch thick transom. My 8 hp Yamaha can't and an Evenrude 9'9.9 hpcould not. Thanks for an answer

That's a big boat to be mounting a 15hp or smaller motor on... Is this to be a kicker? Or for hp restricted lakes?

Transom thickness won't matter if you're using a bracket. But three inches is thick, did someone slap a bandaid layer over bad?

There was something wrong- my information The transom thickness is 2 and 1/2 inches. This boat has a 70 hp Johnson and an auxiliary mounting bracket for the 8 hp Yamaha. i would like to mount a 10 hpspare motor directly to the transom. There is the problem. I would have to grind the mounting screw feet to get the yamaha on there or the 9.9 Evenrude. that is why I ask; Are there larger mounting bracket models of outboards. i cant get my photo to show up

Tried to post answers and add a photo. Little blue circle turning around endlessly. My mistake ; the transom is 2 and 3/8 inches and mounts a 70 hp Johnson main motor .The problrm is the Yamaha won't mount . My question is: Are their larger outboard mounting bracket models. Sorry for the mess.

You have to love Windows 10. That little blue circle is annoying

Any special reason you want to eliminate the aux bracket?Idont know of any other motor clamps other than what come with the motor.I have a 76 ss 160 starcraft and I put my motor right beside the big boy with zero issues.

Thanks guys. I find the auxiliary motor bracket a nuisance and would like my "go home motor" mounted on transom; easier to couple for steering when trolling. A marina operator says you can grins the clamp shoes to fit.

Hmmm....just checked the neighbors garage as he has a number of small outboards. Of all the small engines I have checked all of them would fit a maximum transom of 2.5 inches thick so not sure why yours won't fit a 2.375 transom?
