i hit a log with my 7.5 sea horse johnson outboad model jr8cic. it now idles and when i give it the gas it dies. i can't see anything wrong on the outside. could it be out of time?<br />what do i do? thank james

chances are that you might have damage the prop hub from inside because on my 50hp we hit a rock and inside there is a rubber ring to asorb the shock from damaging the prop shaft and mine was perished which meant that when i accelarated the prop slipped so this could be happening to yours

You partially sheared your flywheel key. That'd be my first guess. Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />Check your gearlube, too. Look for metallic gearlube.
