Could changing brands of oil cause hard starting? I recently ran out of my regular brand and had to
use something different. It seems when I did the motor has been harder to start then normal.
Thanks

Re: Outboard Oil

I doubt it, but I will leave it up to more experianced people on here who have done that to answer. I have, on occasion, switched oil brands temporarily with no problems! TCW 3, of course!

No.

As long as you use oil that is rated for the use, it won't cause problems.

Some rated TWC-3 oils fulfills the standard with good margins, some just do. But they all are rated and won't cause starting problems.

Also, oil doesn't make your motor start - it lubes it. As a matter of fact your motor would start on fuel without oil at all - it just wouldn't run more than a short while as everything inside it would seize due to no lube.
