hello<br /> the reason for stripping it is to clean the sand from it. to just restart it is easy. flush the fuel systen and check for spark. sometimes salty water will short out the kill switch.<br /> you can do a complete teardown and reassembly on that motor in 8 hours or so. not a lot there.<br /> the piston,rods and crank all come out the back. pull it apart and flush it with solvent. diesel will work. I have done some 8 hp recently and the rental company was in a bind so no new seals or gaskets,other than the exhaust and base were used. but these motors spent overnight in the pond and were very sandy.I started on a saturday afternoon and had them delivered for monday morning

. the price was right as well . the rental place supplied all the parts on this one

<br />but the big object is to make it run and get the water out or it will be junk. afterwards you have to remove the flywheel and clean the stator and lube the surfaces.
