I used the instructions in this website http://www.mercstuff.com/howdoi.htm to adjust my shift cable and my trim limit switch on my pre-alpha outdrive. I have several questions. When adjusting the shift cable, I thought the barrel would turn on the shaft, but the barrel was pinned on the shaft and the shaft turned into the shift cable housing. Is this normal? The shaft seemed to bottom out in the cable housing just at the right adjustment. Does this mean the next time I do the adjustment, I will need to replace the cable? On the trim limit adjustment, the instructions show 6 1/2". When my outdrive is full down, the measurement is already 4". Does this mean only 2 1/2" of travel, or is the adjustment 4 + 6 1/2 for 10 1/2" at the upper limit?
