Hi, I am having difficulty determining the ratio of my alpha one gen 2 drive. Only ID on the currently installed outdrive is 0D533256. ( this drive was changed at some point and the original ID according to the Air-Cleaner cover was 0D876777 / Engine 0f064251) Could anyone tell me what the ratio is ( and if it is a correct match to the engine ) and if the new unit is the same as the original ?) The drive is in very rough condition, and I would like to replace it. Another question : Do I have to match the upper unit ratio, and then I could use my existing lower? ( are the alpha one Gen 2 lower units all the same ratio - 2.00 ? ) Thanks in adva:cool:nce!

Re: OutDrive ID / Ratio / Interchange

Welcome aboard durbanite!! I moved this over to our non-Repair I/O section. we try to keep the Boat section free of engine topics, and the drive itself is kind of guilty by association . . . Good luck :)

Re: OutDrive ID / Ratio / Interchange

Hi, sorry about the incorrect placement of the thread. What I'm trying to find out is if the outdrive ratio is correct to the engine. ( and the ratio of the outdrive per the part number ) Thanks...

Re: OutDrive ID / Ratio / Interchange

Your engine and drive was registered together when the boat was sold new on 02/19/1994. The boat should be a 1993?

Engine serial number 0F064251 is a 1993 model number 450L1003S MERCRUISER TB4, W/PS, TWOPCEX, WORO 5.0LX ALPHA
Drive serial number 0D876777 is 1993 model number 50101503S MERCRUISER ALPHA R.H. 1.50:1

Transom serial number 0D533256 is a 1991 model number 6010000DS MERCRUISER ALPHA transom assembly.

This transom assembly was not registered at all so it's a 50/50 if this transom assembly is original to the boat. Also you can not go by the year difference between the boat engine and drive being a 93, because it's not uncommon for a boat manufacturer to use older inventory they may have had sitting in the back of the warehouse.;)

Hope this help, Good luck.:)
