99 alpha outdrive. replaced water pump beginning of season - all went well.
Boat has been sitting 2 weeks (vacation) and I noticed outdrive oil on fin of outdrive. Came from weep hole on either side of lower unit. Was not enough to drip off the fin, just a coating. Fluid levels still fine. I lent my manual to a buddy.
What seal do you think is shot or could sitting in the hot Bama sun for 2 weeks cause this?

Did you replace, loose, dislodge, forget the quad ring when you put it back together?

You are gonna have to pressure test it to find the bad seal, I think that when you drain the gear oil you will see some water too.....Thats why the level has not gone down....JK

no, I did it correctly, passed the pressure test and ran great all spring and summer. This leak just started. Kind of has me baffled as to what may have happened.
Thnaks for your replies though. I'll take it apart in a few weeks.

Have you checked the outdrive for the presence of water?

Re: outdrive leak

Most common cause of this, where I'm at, is fishing string getting wrapped around the prop shaft and damaging the seal. As long as water is not going in and oil is coming out, it shouldn't hurt anything as long as there is sufficient oil supply in the unit. Don't let it get low or it will damage the upper unit. Try a vacuum test also.
