I am looking for some guidance. I have a 2013 boat with a bravo 3 outdrive and I was losing a little gear lube last season. I diagnosed it and I have a slow leak on the back side of the dribble valve that is mounted on the bell housing. My main question is how does that valve come out? I don't have the bell housing off yet but I'm trying to gather as much information as possible. Thanks.

:welcome: to iBoats . . .

The valve itself looks like this,

but the fitting on the back side is this . . .

Which threads into the bell housing.

If the leak is from the back side, it may be the hose/clamp/fitting and not the valve itself. The oil tube does not connect directly to the valve, so the valve may be OK if the leak is coming from the back side.

I'm not 100% on process to remove the valve, but you will need to disassemble the bell housing to get a better view of the source of the leak.

So I have an interesting update. I dis-assembled the bell housing and discovered that mercruiser did not install ANY clamps on the hoses that go from the remote lube reservoir to the lower unit. I bought the boat new in 2014, 2013 Monterey 328ss and there has been no work done where they would have been removed not to mention I am missing all of the clamps in the engine compartment side also, on both engines. The support and warantee from mercruiser is a joke so it's on me. A bunch of $2.50 clamps is going to end up costing me close to a grand. I wonder if this is an isolated incident or if it happened to other people.
