Outdrive match ups

Does anyone know if a boat running a ford engine with a mercruiser can i replace that engine with a chevy what will have to be changed?

Hey Ripcurl<br /><br />I have a chevy with a mercruiser(Alpha one). From what I always hear that is one of the best combination. I am very far from being a mechanic so details I could not give you, I can pretty much just change my oil and keep up on the fluids-- thats about It. Like Bondo says. Pull the motor and everything attaches to it out all the way up to the transom plate and start over. Most boats are not worth it and the ones that are don't because it is to much of a pain unless you have a complete Chevy boat motor (and everything attaches to it) sitting around somewhere. What's wrong with the Ford? A little more money to build (not as bad as Mopar) but cheaper then converting to a Chevy.
