Does anyone know WHERE if at all the Model # is stamped or listed on the LOWER UNIT of an OMC sterndrive ? I puchased a used one for my 1988 Bayliner 2655 and the top portion is for a 1989 per the model #. BUT, the lower part seems to have been replaced with a NEWER year part and my CURRENT thrust bearing that goes BEHIND the prop WILL NOT go all the way on the spline to bottom out. My mechanic thinks it is probably a newer unit, but can't seem to find any numbers to confirm THE YEAR AND MODEL so we can get the right part. Any ideas , info, or suggestions ?
