Outdrive oil reccomendation.

I have a VP 280 converted with a Duoprop lower.

Ive yet to change the oil in my drive. Ive had the boat 2 years and due to other maintenance issues the drive has been serviced by pros.

I was looking in my manual and it says 30W for 280, but 90W for a DP 280.

The oil in it now is green, so Im assuming its synthetic 90W.

Wish me luck when i pull off the upper on Saturday to find my source of the grinding noise.

When I pull off the upper, can I then remove the seal and check the Intermediate bearing for water intrusion? Is this easy?
