Hi all,
On my outdrive I have two plastic half pipe support rods that I place on my outdrive when trailering. I put them on the outdrive and trim down to tighten them up. I was told that their role is to aid the outdrive from bouncing up and down during trailering. Well, I lost mine on the road, because I forgot to trim down to lock them in. What are they call? I believe they were call ram plugs, or something like that. Are they really necessary? Right now, I"m just using two wooden sticks and triming down to lock them in. Would that be sufficient or do I really need those two fancy plastic half pipe support rods? Thanks.

Trailering clips. On outboards they are called 'transom savers'.

Transom savers are a god send. I would NEVER trust my tilt trim unit to hold my lower unit up while on the road. I use mine along with a ratchet strap just to be on the safe side. It's cheep insurance compared to having your skeg fixed.
