I have a 1983 16 ft Invader with a Volvo Penta AQ125A engine and AQ270 outdrive. The boat does not have an outdrive up / down indicator and is so quiet when tilting that I can't hear it. The only way I can tell where its at is to check visually. Is there anything I can do to install something that will give me the outdrive's position.

you can look at the lower unit and if it has a trim senser you can buy a trim gauge and a manual for the wire color and put the gauge in. i just did it to my boat and it cost me 15 dollars

Re: Outdrive up/down indicater light

I may be wrong but I don't think so. the 270 OD does not have trim. It only has tilt. On mine there is a light that goes out when it is locked all the way down but tilting up I end up have to check it to see how far up or down it is. I thought about making a small mirror that would mount where my stern light goes for this.
