i hade a 89 5.7 chevy but motor was junk so i got a free working 5.0 from my bro in law now my ? is can i still use my outdrive with my 5.0????

According to GLM, they have different gear ratios: http://www.glmmarine.com/OMCVolvoPenta/

5.7 has a leg with 21:16 ratio and the 5.0 has a leg with a 21:18 ratio. I would say no unless changing the prop to account for the difference would make it work. Someone with more experience will chime in soon Im sure.
