Hello all, i have two questions about the temp and warm up switches on my 98 115 intruder so here it goes when you replace the switch on the port cylinder bank the clymer manuel says to coat the outer part of the switch with omc gasket sealer not the top when i pulled mine out to check it it had nothing on it from the factory im the original owner of this engine , my omc manuel says nothing about the instalation of the switch, now the second question are the temp side of that switch for the quick start prone to go out or work intermiditley causing the timing to advance when it shouldnt after the moter reaches 105deg any information will be appreciated.

Thank you

If the switch is bad it could do that. It does require omc gasket sealing compond when installing. This mtr was built when OMC was going tits up, so anything is possible.

Sorry i didnt get back to you yesterday had to do the honey do stuff, ok you say like the clymer manuel says to coat the outside of the port temp switch with gasket sealing compound but not the top, than put it into the reses on the port cyl head, why do you have to put the gasket sealing compound on the outside of the switch its a blind hole in the head that the switch sits in, also i read cant remember where they said to use dielectric grease would this be ok to thank you.

The gasket sealing compond is used to prevent corrosion. Dielectric grease is used on the electrical connections.
