1994 200 Johnson J200TXERK, over heat alarm and light comes on after idling a few minutes, the temps at the heads next to the tstats are 125 to 135 after the alarm goes off, this seems low to me. There is a good stream of water coming from the tail tail, pulled the tstats they opened in pot of hot water but not sure what the temp was. Pulled the blow by and it seemed ok. There is water getting to the tstats and the blow by. Not sure what to check next maybe the temp switches. If so how is this done?

Re: Over Heating alarm

ive seen these go off even more so if they are the big old red ones, you probably have a short in you wiring run it and when it comes on wiggle the wire behind the light n see if it goes off, you can run the motor for a couple minutes without hurting it. but be cautious.

The alarm for overheating and for a fuel restriction is the same..... a constant steady sounding of the warning horn. Perhaps you have a fuel restriction? Does the fuel primer bulb have a tendency to collapse, flatten out somewhat?

The lights and the alarm are in the tach, there are individaul lights for oil, heat, fuel and something else. I haven't noticed the bulb collapsing. It starts with no problem and idles good. I will try wiggling the wires at the gauge and check the bulb. Could the temp switches cause this?

Re: Over Heating alarm

I haven't had it much above idle. I bought the boat used as is. I too off valve and found the seat was in backwards, turned it around and put it back in. Water is flowing through the tubes now but when I start it up the alarm still sounds.k it for a test run and it didn't have the problem. Put the boat in a wet slip to work on the trailer. The next weekend was going to take the boat out. It started fine, idled out of the marina about 100 yrds the alarm went off and I idled back in. I haven't had the boat in the water sense. Took out the pop off valve and found that the seat was installed backward, turned is around and put it back in. There is water flowing through the bypass tubes now but when I start it the alarm still goes off.

Re: Over Heating alarm

So have you figured out your problem? I am suffering the same issue. WOT overheating ....let off and buzzer stops but light stays on. Changed impeller, thermostats, checked diverters for obstruction. All fine. Have not checked pop offs. Not trying to jack the thread but would love to know what you found.
