Motor overheatng. Water pump is working but not much water coming out of "pisser" Could it be my thermostat? It's 90 hp evinrude. Also I lost some power 2 trips prior. I changed the plugs, but after that it wouldn't idle. That's when it started overheating.

Re: over heating

How long has it been since the water pump was replaced? If longer than two years - - do it and the Tstats.

Since it overheated you need to do a compression check to see if there was any damage. My guess is that you have a serious problem. Compression should be ove 100 lbs and within 10% on all cylinders.

Re: over heating

Thanks for the info., I'll check it out this weekend and see what happens. I've had the boat about 7 yrs. and this is the first mechanical problem I've had. What a way to start huh!

If you have had it for 7 years and not replaced the water pump then it definetely needs to be replaced, you also said that there is not much water coming out of the tell-tale that is a sure indication that your water pump is weak, that is basically the whole point of a tell-tale. I also agree with Solittle, do a compression check and see if there is any damage. Good Luck.
