Hi. Quick question on where to start with this problem. While at full throatal on a 89 force 50 my motor over revs. Just curios on the best spot to start looking.,

Over revving while under way?? Prop hub spun.
The hub can give out under load,
If it's that I'm surprised it doesn't do it at low speed too.
Have a spare?
Try taking it to almost any marine sales, repair and get it re-hubed.

Thanks. It only does it when at full throttle. If I back off to 3/4 throttle it won't do it. Gunna check out the hub

Is your prop ventilating when it over revs?

Not sure what u mean by ventilating? After I get going I will be cruising fine then all of a sudden my engine revs really and the propeller stops moving me forward. But only at full throttle

Is there any grinding noise when it over-revs? Like maybe the clutch dogs are slipping at high speed? If this is the case, you might want to adjust the shift rod a little bias to forward and see if this will fix it.

If the engine over revs at WOT settings and there is no grinding sound and boat slows down because the prop isn't spinning as fast as the engine, the most likely cause is either clutch dog is disengaging or the prop hub is spun.

Thanks for everyone's responses. Pretty sure it's the prop. Trying to find one now. Only problem is that there is only 1 number stamped on the prop and it is 11 1/2.
