Today, I took my 17ft used boat on it maiden voyage. While at the boat ramp the motor had run about 10 minutes then a high pitch alarm went off originating from under the center console. Assuming this was the overheat alarm I shut the motor off. Waited about 2 minutes restarted the motor and heard nothing else. Rode the boat around for about 30 minutes and it ran find. Here are my questions.

1. Is the over heat alarm on the motor or usually under the console?
2. I just had the thermostats replaced and saw that water was coming out of the motor, any ideas on what would make the alarm go off then not go off again.

Possible that you ran over a plastic bag, and it prevented water from entering the lower unit intake grills. Backing up typically will clear this obstruction. It's a pretty rare situation, but has happened to me.
