Is an overheating alarm an extra, like a tach, that you have to hook up to the motor or is it on the motor itself? If it is an extra, how much are they, and are they hard to install. I have a 1978 55hp Evinrude.
Thanks in advance.... :)

Brother Chris,

You may already have one in the control box.

Look for a tan wire that goes into the top of the cylinder head, usually on the top cylinder. Ground this wire and see if you hear a horn go off in the control box.

Yo Bro Chris,
Unless someone has removed it, your engine has a hi-temp warning horn.

c/6

Hooty

Thanks guys for the quick response. I will check for the wire tomorrow and test it, as I am at work right now.
