I have a pair of 2001 HPDI 200 hp that are new to me. The port engine is overheating at speed. We were running in lots of grass but only the one engine did it multiple times. The engine never stopped peeing. It was hot as we checked the pee. The impellers were changed 8 months ago.

My thought is there has to be a flow issue. I would rather change out the cooling parts than dink around. I have not been able to get a manual yet but would like to have a jump on the parts needed and any special issues. I read over the directions for lower unit removal but did not see anything about shift rod removal. Also I will change the thermostats as a precaution. I understand there is a set of poppit valves, what do they do and where are they?

thanks

Re: overheating issue 200 hpdi

before replacing your thermostats i would look at inspecting and cleaning your poppet valve and housing, go to the end of this thread for a guide on what to do http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=255839

even though only one of your engines has the problem i would seriously look at cleaning and inspecting the other.
My rule of thumb is " What you do to one you do the same to the other" that way both engines are at equal standard of maintainance........happy boating:)
