overheating

i replaced my waterpump dont see any water pumping still .still over heats in water. can anyone help please! also is there a thermostat on my evenrude 135 hp? 1974

The thermostat is on the back, in the housing below the pregnant-looking bubbleback cover. It has two big hoses going to it. That probably isn't the problem, but go ahead and check it.

How have you determined that it is overheating?

And yes your engine has t-stats. They are under a cover between the banks of cylinders. Look for a hose goning from each cylinder head towards the center. Best get the OMC manual if you want to work on it.

Yes you do have a thermostat, you may also have a blockage between the pump and the powerhead. I am sure that some real experts will chime in, but I do not believe that you have a tell tale on a 74 135hp so you would not see a stream of water coming out. The two holes in the mid section should spray water though. You really need a manual before you get to far in the engine. Hope this helps until you can get some better advise.
